{"id":1457,"date":"2022-02-01T18:20:09","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T16:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rol.ukma.edu.ua\/informaciya-pro-centrabout-us\/"},"modified":"2026-03-02T11:59:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T09:59:14","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rol.ukma.edu.ua\/en\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>History and Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rule of Law Research Centre is an academic research unit of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, founded by Professor Mykola Koziubra in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre\u2019s primary focus is conducting fundamental research on the rule of law and introducing contemporary approaches to its understanding into Ukrainian legal scholarship and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities of the Centre<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre\u2019s experts conduct research and educational activities in the field of the theory of the rule of law and its implementation in international and national practice, as well as analyze the current state and prospects for its consolidation in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This work is organized through thematic research groups focused on specific areas of development of the doctrine and practice of the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre has implemented a number of research and practical projects, including in cooperation with international partners such as the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); the Folke Bernadotte Academy; the Council of Europe and its European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within comprehensive projects and upon individual requests, the Centre provides professional advisory support to public authorities, local self-government bodies, private legal entities, and practicing lawyers on the application of the rule of law principles in rule-making and law enforcement. In particular, the Centre\u2019s experts have developed legislative initiatives and draft legislation, prepared scholarly opinions at the request of judges and courts, and provided expert advice in specific cases (proceedings).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the results of the Centre\u2019s research and practical activities are effectively integrated into the educational process at the Department of General Theory of Law and Public Law of the Faculty of Law of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, as well as into the research and innovation activities of its students. The Centre\u2019s experts have also developed specialized courses: \u201cRule of Law: Practicum\u201d for students of the Bachelor\u2019s program in Law and \u201cRule of Law in Governance\u201d for students of the Master\u2019s program in Public Policy and Governance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>History and Mission &nbsp; The Rule of Law Research Centre is an academic research unit of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, founded by Professor Mykola Koziubra in 2007.
